The first of Faith in Action's caregiving programs, the Caregiver Respite Program serves the agency's most frail care receivers. The typical enrollee in this program is a senior who navigates multiple illnesses. As a result, those enrolled in this program receive 1:1 assistance provided by a trained volunteer who is matched with the care recipient.

(Please note: Because of the complexities associated with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia, those persons and families needing assistance and respite are referred to other programs that can better meet their particular needs).

Care recipients are matched with a volunteer in their city, after an assessment is conducted to determine if this program's volunteers can provide the level of support needed. Volunteers do not provide personal (bathing, dressing) or medical (wound care, IV changes/monitoring) assistance.

Services are subsidized; there are no financial requirements to meet. Enrolled care recipients are asked to make a donation to the program if they are able. No one is turned away for a lack of funds.
