In 2004, Faith in Action adopted the following statement: “Faith in Action actively seeks to hire and promote individuals, recruit volunteers and provide services to individuals without regard to race, creed, color, gender, sexual orientation, disability, marital status, veteran status, national origin, age or physical disability…”
As a recipient of federal dollars, Faith in Action (FIA) is required to comply with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and ensure that services and benefits are provided on a nondiscriminatory basis. Faith in Action has adopted a Title VI Complaint Procedure that outlines a process for the disposition of Title VI complaints and is consistent with guidelines found in the Federal Transit Administration Circular 4702.1B dated October 1, 2012.
Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin in programs and activities receiving Federal financial assistance. Specifically, Title VI provides that "no person in the United States shall, on the ground of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance" (42 U.S.C. Section 2000d).
Faith in Action operates its programs without regard to race, color, and national origin and is committed to ensuring that no person is excluded from participation in, or denied the benefits of its transportation services on the basis of race, color, or national origin, as protected by Title VI in Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Circular 4702.1.B.
